As a massive fan of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel’s work, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire was easily one of my most anticipated films of 2023. From the very first frame, it’s clear that this movie isn’t just another commercial action flick — it’s an epic built on emotions, brotherhood, and brutality. The director doesn’t waste time; he immediately immerses us into the world of Khansaar, a fictional city divided into ruthless factions, where loyalty and betrayal walk hand in hand.
The story follows Deva (Prabhas), a man who lives quietly in a remote area but harbors a dark past. When his childhood friend Vardha (Prithviraj Sukumaran) calls for help, Deva steps back into the world he had once left behind. What follows is a tale of friendship tested by politics, bloodlines, and the hunger for power. The movie’s structure is non-linear at times, building intrigue and tension as secrets of Deva’s past slowly unfold.
One of the strongest aspects of Salaar is its emotional backbone — the bond between Deva and Vardha. Unlike typical action movies that rely only on stunts and explosions, Salaar focuses deeply on relationships. The flashback portions showing their friendship and Deva’s silent loyalty bring real emotional weight to the story. When the betrayals begin, you genuinely feel for both characters.
